Julia Q&A

Julia joined the NorthPoint team in 2022 after having a huge interest in animal sciences, as well as taking her dog for many baths! She is the owner of two cats: Ragnar and Renegade, and a crazy mutt named Maggie! They were the original reason that Julia found an interest in pet health and behavior. Currently, Julia is finishing up her senior year at Cheshire High School and plans to major in Animal Sciences/Marine Biology in college.

1. What brought you to NPP/Tell us about your background.

I am from Cheshire, so I am fortunate enough to have NorthPoint right around the corner from me! The first time I came into NPP it was to bring my dog for a bath, and I have been in love with the store ever since. Before working here, I used to find every excuse I could to come in and give my dog a bath, or get her a toy!

2. What is your role/super power with NPP?

I have always been really good with animals! I try to meet them where they’re at – you’ll often see me getting down on my knees to pet a dog, and I think that that can be a lot less intimidating for a dog if you’re on the same level as them. I want to show them that I’m their friend!

3. Tell us about your pets! 

I have two 5 year-old cats – one named Ragnar and one named Renegade! Ragnar is definitely the instigator of the pair, while Renny can usually be found sleeping, or looking for belly scratches. I also have a 4 year-old dog named Maggie! She is a huge ball of energy, and LOVES to come to NorthPoint!

4. What do you enjoy most about working at NPP?

I love working at NPP for so so many reasons, but the top one is just my interactions with customers and getting to learn more about them, and their adorable pets! I learn something new from each person, and each new dog, and it’s awesome to be able to talk with so many people about something we have in common: a love for pets!

5. What is your pet’s favorite treat/toy from NPP?

Maggie is a HUGE foodie, but it doesn’t take much to make her happy! Currently, we are giving her Woofers and Bocce’s Bakery Nutcracker Crunch, and she really loves both! Maggie also loves all of the toys she gets from NPP, but her favorite is her blue narwhal!

6. What do you like to do in your free time?

In my free time, I am the president of Cheshire High School’s Best Buddies Chapter, and I also do a lot with Best Buddies at the state level. It is a really meaningful organization to me, and I wouldn’t be who I am without it. Besides that, you can find me at the beach when it’s nice, playing with my pets, or spending time with friends and family!
